An expert, independent commission in Norway has tested different types of special needs bicycles in connection with a multi-year public procurement. Several aspects were important for this tender. These were rated with a specific weighting coefficient. In the tandem category, Van Raam's bicycles were assessed as best in terms of overall quality. For both the three-wheel tandems where one rider sits behind the other as well as the side-by-side tandems, the quality of Van Raam tandems was far superior to other bikes in the test.

The tandems were evaluated on: Price, quality of the frame and the parts, quality and reliability of the motor and charger, the ability to customise the bike to suit individual needs, the bike's accessories, ease of use, reliability and overall impression. Of course the design of the bicycles was also an important factor.

Test winners: three-wheeltandems and side-by-side tandems

The Twinny Plus, Kivo Plus and Fun2Go double rider by van Raam were all rated best in the three-wheel tandem and side-by-side tandem categories.

Several other bikes were tested in the three-wheel tandem categorie (where one rider sits behind the other), including the Copilot by Huka, Sunny Nando by Nijland and Captän Duo tandem by Draisin. The quality of the Van Raam Twinny Plus and Kivo Plus received 43% more points from the independent Norwegian commission than the Copilot by Huka. Compared to the Sunny Nando, the bicycles even got 100% more points.

Best electric motors

What stood out with the electric pedal assistance, were its power, individual customisation options, user-friendly app, the ability to reverse, its completely silent operation and simple controls. Van Raam's Silent electricmotors were more than sufficiently distinctive and powerful to finish at the top of the list.

Other test winners

Van Raam products were also scored best in other categories of the test: The Fun2Go side-by-side tandem, the Easy Rider sitting tricycle, the Twinny and Kivo three-wheel tandems and the Mini, Midi, Maxi tricycles were all the best in their respective categories.
